INTRODUCTION
Over the past few years we have noted the ever changing and stringent hygiene, health, safety and environmental legislative requirements. Compliance to legislative requirements through effective hygiene, health, safety and environmental management controls make financial, moral and legal sense hence, our adaptation and continual improvement thereto.
PLEDGE
To assist and ensure that our clients achieve a holistic management programme through skills training and either individual or integrated management systems conforming to local South African and Botswana National Standards (SANS / BOBS) and International Standards (ISO Standards). We will endeavour to offer a professional service best suited for our clients’ needs and feedback from our clients regarding our service delivery is encouraged.
POLICY
Consulting and Training will continually strive to afford, as far as reasonably practicable, quality consulting and training services. To achieve this, SHEM Consulting and Training’s management team will ensure the following objectives:
- Maintain a Quality Management System conforming to the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 standard.
- Periodically review the performance of the management system.
- Ensure the competence of all personnel rendering consulting and training services.
- Adhere to the requirements of all Legislative and By-Law requirements including applicable National (Republic of South African/ Republic of Botswana) and International Standards (ISO, ILO, etc.)
The management of SHEM Consulting and Training will ensure that the quality policy is communicated, implemented and understood at all levels within the organisation. This quality policy will continually be reviewed by the management team for its continued suitability and sustainability.

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY SERVICES AND AUDITS
Consulting encompasses the entire spectrum of Client and / or Contractor compliance requirements that include:
- Compilation of Project Specific Health and Safety Specifications when representing Clients;
- Compilation of Project Specific Health and Safety Files when representing Contractors;
- Compilation of Project Specific Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (HIRA);
- Compilation of Safe Work (SWP) and / or Operating Procedures (SOP);
- Evaluation of Client / Contractor legal compliance and ISO conformance documentation;
- Fall Protection Planning including Rescue Plans. This with particular reference to work at heights;
- Asbestos Surveys including the compilation of asbestos inventories / asbestos registers;
- Compliance monitoring / inspections and audits;
- Building / Facility compliance inspections and audits;
- Fire Safety compliance inspections and audits;
- Compilation of Emergency Evacuation Plans and Procedures;
- Food Safety legal compliance and ISO conformance inspections and audits;
- Applications for Construction Work Permits (DoL);
- Notification of Construction Work to the applicable Regional Directors of the Department of Labour;
- Compliance management on behalf of both, Clients and Contractors; and
- Closing Statements upon the completion of projects.

All training can be facilitated either at the client premises pending a minimum of 8 candidates, off-site (public training) or attend our online training presented through Microsoft Teams.

These courses may alternatively be presented over Saturdays pending a minimum registration of 10 learners per class. This will assist those learners currently in full-time employment.
